Avril Lavigne

Avril Ramona Lavigne was born September 27, 1984. She sings, can play guitar, piano, and drums for her band, but she has a band that helps out. She was born in Bellevelle Canada. She was first discovered by her manager, singing country songs at a Chapters bookstore in Ontario. When she was 16, Ken Krongard (A&R) signed her and took her to New York to hear her sing, and they made her first album, Let Go.

She soon moved to Los Angeles, California, and in June 2002, her album 'Let Go' was released. Avril described the album as 'pop genre with some rock songs.' The album had four singles, which were all hits. They were Complicated, Sk8er Boi, I'm With You, and Losing Grip. In 2002, Lavigne won 'Best New Artist' at MTV VMA's.

Her newest album 'Under My Skin' was released in May 2004. There were four singles on this album as well, Don't Tell Me, My Happy Ending, Nobodies Home, and He Wasn't. Don't Tell Me was the lead single out of those. She won two World Music Awards in 2004 for Best Pop/Rock artist, and Best Selling Canadian Artist.

Avril co - wrote Breakaway recorded by Kelly Clarkson for 'The Princess Diaries 2' in 2004. Just this August, 2005, Avril was on an episode of Punk'd where Ashton Kutcher convinced her she blew up a car and a bike.

She's supposed to have a new album released in spring 2006. She was taking a break from music for a while so she could be with her to be husband Deryck Whybley from Sum41, and so she could get on with her life, but she's still going to keep up with her music!

Lavinge used to wear neck ties almost ALL the time, some she bought, some she took from her dad, but stopped when news people kept talking references to her about her neck ties, and started a huge fasion trend with ties to all her fans.

In 2004, her and Hillary Duff got in a huge fight starting with Duff criticizing how her fans dressed like Avril and Avril not appreciating it. She said Avril should be happy her fans like her and look up to her. Lavigne then said Duff was a 'mommy's girl' and a 'goody two shoes' and told Duff to go 'screw herself.'

Lavigne loves music from Blink 182, Sum41, and System of a Down. People have called her a poser before, but in my oppinion, that's not true, she admits to be part pop, and she's just doing her own thing. She's made it to the list of FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World for three years straight. She married to Deryck Whibley not so long ago - from Sum41. She also just made a song for the movie 'Eragon' called 'Keep Holding On.'
